  33. 1. COMMAND-LINE OPERATION

  35. + To start the program minimized: Use the "Start program minimized"
  36.   option ('Interface' tab) or use the "-min" command-line argument.
  37.   The latter solution is especially useful if you place a shortcut
  38.   to VisitURL in the Windows StartUp folder.

  42. 2. INSTALATION
  43.  
  44. After you have installed the program, start it by clicking
  45. its icon in the Start menu. Ince inside the program:
  46.  
  47.   a) Press F5 key to open tyhe Options dialog box and
  48.      adjust program configuration to your liking
  49.   b) From the "Help" menu choose "VisitURL setup",
  50.      and then "Install". This will open a dialog box
  51.      where you can perform basic program setup.
  52.      For instance, you will be able to associate
  53.      '.vis' files with visit.exe, and create shortcuts
  54.      to the program on the desktop and/or in the Startup
  55.      folder.

  58. Notes:
  59.  
  60. 1. The file "perlre.dll" must be unzipped to the same directory
  61.    in which you have put "visit.exe", or to the Windows "system"
  62.    directory (usually c:\windows\system).
  63.  
  64. 2. The program requires the latest (at this point, February 1999)
  65.    version of the COMCTL32.DLL file, which is distributed with
  66.    Internet Explorer version 4.0 and above. (Version 4.72.xxx
  67.    or later is needed.) If you do not have this file, the program
  68.    will still work, but some functionality of the Explorer-like
  69.    listview may be disabled.

  73. 3. ONLINE HELP

  75. Currently, VisitURL has no online help. However, immediate help
  76. is provided in the form of tooltip hints and hints displayed
  77. in the status line (move the mouse pointer over an area of a window
  78. to have the relevent hint displayed).

  82. 4. BUGS, a.k.a. KNOWN ISSUES
  83.  
  84.     + In the Import dialog box, the "Anchors only" option is not implemented.
  85.  
  86.     + Automatic collecting of descriptions still needs some work. In particular,
  87.       when importing URLs from a non-HTML file, description must reside in the
  88.       same line of text as the URL. (This does not apply to descriptions gathered
  89.       from clipboard.)
  90.  
  91.     + A weird toolbar display bug occurs under the following conditions: If the
  92.       program is started in iconized form and you click the "Monitor clipboard"
  93.       option in the tray-icon menu before you restore the program window for the
  94.       first time - then (and only then) the toolbar display is mangled. I've
  95.       tried several fixes, in vain. Please note that if the bug occurs,
  96.       you may right-click over the toolbar area (it will look as an empty gray
  97.       strip with only one button on the left) and choose the "Flat buttons"
  98.       option from the menu, the toolbar will be redrawn correctly. The funny
  99.       thing is I cannot force this correct redraw when the application is hidden
  100.       (iconized). If you can help me fix this problem, I will greatly appreciate
